Seeking a Commercial Real Estate Legal Counsel

About Our Client:

Our client is a prominent real estate development company specializing in commercial property transactions, land use approvals, and zoning variances. They collaborate with municipalities, investors, and legal professionals to bring projects to fruition. We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to oversee property acquisitions, lease negotiations, municipal approvals, entitlements, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage commercial real estate transactions, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, and closing agreements.
• Oversee land use and zoning approvals, such as variances, site plan approvals, and municipal permits.
• Represent the company before zoning boards, planning commissions, and governmental agencies.
• Conduct due diligence on real estate transactions, including title reviews, environmental assessments, and zoning compliance checks.
• Provide guidance on regulatory compliance to ensure projects adhere to local, state, and federal laws.
• Collaborate with external legal teams on land use disputes, zoning appeals, and real estate litigation.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in NJ and preferably NY.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, land use, or zoning.
• Demonstrated track record of securing zoning approvals, variances, and entitlements.
• Strong proficiency in contract negotiation and real estate transactions.
• Experience working with developers, municipal agencies, and real estate professionals.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, easements, and title issues is a bonus.
