Job Description:

  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and provide treatment to assigned patients, helping them reach their maximum performance levels and function effectively within their capabilities.
  • Document and administer comprehensive evaluations based on departmental standards.
  • Offer consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper patient positioning to prevent contractures.
  • Collaborate with local schools, nursing homes, home care agencies, and hospitals to provide necessary therapies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and reports.
  • Create and implement treatment programs to improve patients' strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination.
  • Instruct patients in adaptive techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for various self-care skills.
  • Train patients in the use of prosthetic devices and provide therapy for neurological integration.
  • Design and fabricate splints, slings, and adaptive equipment as specified by doctors' prescriptions.
  • Administer treatment programs to traumatic brain-injured patients to improve cognitive abilities and judgment skills.
  • Teach prevention therapy techniques to patients and their families, focusing on energy conservation, safety, and proper transfer techniques.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate patients' organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, and adaptive-equipment needs.
  • Design home programs and provide instructions to patients and families for carrying out such programs.
  • Participate in patient support groups with other team members.
  • Evaluate patients and develop customized plans of care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy required.
  • Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required.
  • Must be licensed within the State of Montana.
