Job Description

  • Handle the legal defense of workplace injury compensation cases from start to finish, managing all aspects of discovery and litigation.
  • Advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to clients.
  • Draft legal pleadings and negotiate settlements for workers' compensation claims.
  • Appear in court, manage the legal calendar, and conduct depositions and cross-examinations of medical professionals.
  • Negotiate lien claims and proactively manage cases.
  • Supervise and mentor a legal assistant, ensuring efficient case support.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Participate in marketing events to attract new clients and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Review and update case information in PracticeMaster and billing software.
  • Meet deadlines for client correspondence and attend file reviews with clients.
  • Conduct training seminars for clients on evolving workers' compensation case law.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in workers' compensation case law.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of recent experience in workers' compensation law.
  • Active member of the California Bar.
  • Residency in California is required.
